GDIDEA Outdoor LED Floodlight Review: Overview And Features
The Gdidea LED floodlight system packs some serious power. The version reviewed here features a double head design and a total of 180 lights that provide up to three thousand lumens for intense brightness.
It is also available as a single head with 90 LEDs that consume a total of 100w and output 1000 lumen, or a quadruple head with 360 LEDs using 400w and outputting 4000 lumen.
If you have a larger property, this system is a great option, although it may be overkill for a smaller yard. This system is lacking some important features that other models in this price range have to offer, so it may not be the best choice if this is your only security light.
However, if you already have a decent setup, then this model can be an excellent addition, especially if you have a large property or live in an area that has a higher than average crime rate.
Key Features
- Double head design
- Lights are easy to adjust
- Energy efficient
- 180 LEDs
- Two thousand lumens
- Low price
- 5-year warranty
Design
This light system is durable, compact, and not too difficult to install if you have any wiring experience. The light comes with everything you need to mount and install the system.
It features a weatherproof, durable housing, and anti-glare lights, which is a huge plus if you have close neighbors. The three-in-one style lamp head contains hundreds of powerful, energy efficient lights, which is exactly what you need in a floodlight system for home security.
Energy Saving
One of the biggest issues with home security lights is the high energy bills that can result, if you leave your lights on during the night. Despite this system using hundreds of lights, the fact that it uses LEDs and not halogen means it’s a more energy-efficient option than many competing models. In fact, the manufacturer claims that it can save you up to eighty-eight percent on your monthly electric bill.
Light Power
The lamp head contains a total of one hundred and eighty LED lights than generate up to two thousand lumens, while only consuming two hundred watts.
Normally, a light with this type of power rating would be very difficult to position correctly. When you use security lights, you have to set them up in a way that does not create more shadows and places for intruders to hide.
Additionally, lights this bright can make it impossible for neighbors to spot an intruder lurking in the bushes. Fortunately, these lights have been designed as anti-glare, shadow-free lighting, so you won’t have to worry about using the proper angle to avoid casting more shadows.
Adjustability
These lights can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically, providing the type of bright coverage you need to light up your yard and discourage thieves. The lamp head is highly adjustable and can pivot two hundred and seventy degrees side to side.
Using the U-shaped bracket, the lights can also pivot one hundred and eighty degrees up and down. If you’re looking for a more flexible security light system, this is it. The light’s flexibility allows you to easily light up dark, large areas in the yard, and all without bothering the neighbors.
Low Maintenance Needs
If you don’t know how to maintain your security lights, you’ll be relieved to learn that these lights feature a very low-maintenance design thanks to the die-cast aluminum housing, combined with the shock-resistant lens. Both work together to promote even heat dissipation.
The light is also equipped with a thick fin-style heat sink. This component functions similar to a radiator and works to dissipate heat, which keeps the LED cooled and increases their lifespan.
Installation
This type of security light features a hard-wired system, so you’ll need to have some knowledge regarding electrical wiring. If you don’t you can have a professional electrician handle the installation process, the cost of which you’ll need to factor into your budget.
The lights should be installed at least seven feet off the ground and can be mounted at a maximum height of thirteen feet. The higher the lights are mounted, the more ground they can illuminate. Additionally, lights that are mounted higher off the ground will be out of reach of intruders who may try to disable them.
Durability
Any type of security light that’s designed for outdoor use should have a high waterproof rating, but surprisingly, many don’t. Fortunately, this model has a IP67 waterproof rating, which means it’s designed to easily withstand constant exposure to heavy rainfall, sleet, and snow.
The system’s wire connector located on the outside of the lights also features a durable design that will increase the lifespan of this light system.
The light’s housing is one of its biggest selling points since it is far more durable lower-priced models that are made out of plastic. The manufacturer claims these lights will last at least fifty thousand hours, which is about average for models in this price bracket.
Warranty
The manufacturer provides a five-year warranty, guaranteeing this system for a period of five years. They also offer free technical support for life.
Competing systems in this price range may not offer a warranty at all. If they do, it ranges from six to twelve-months. The fact that this model comes with five years of coverage and lifetime technical support is definitely a plus for the buyer on a budget in need of a lighting system they can rely on.
Advantages And Disadvantages
Pros
- Energy efficient
- Anti-glare lights
- Affordable
- Durable housing
- Lights are easy to position
- Double head design
- 5 year warranty
Cons
- No motion sensors
- Difficult installation
- No brightness settings
GDIDEA Floodlight Performance
To many, this light sounds too good to be true. And it just might be. So, what feature is this light system missing that the other models I’ve reviewed had?
The answer is a motion detection sensor. Not having one is a deal-breaker for most potential buyers.
Without a motion detection sensor, these lights will remain on until you switch them off. Models equipped with a motion sensor are triggered only when an object, animal, vehicle, or person crosses the sensor’s range. This means the lights will not remain on all night and will only switch on if someone is in your yard.
This can help to scare off intruders while also alerting you to their presence. If the lights are on constantly, then you won’t have a clue that there is any type of activity going on in your yard.
Moreover, having the lights on constantly used far more power. A single 200 watt light running all night will not have a huge impact on your electric bill, but multiple lights can really add up.
That said, there are some buyers in search of a security light system that allows the lights to remain on all night long. Considering this system is very energy-efficient, it is your best option for that. It won’t send your electricity bill skyrocketing the way many other lights might.
But if you’re looking for a higher level of protection, the lack of a motion detector will be a huge drawback. If you’re looking for systems that do come equipped with motion detection sensors, to read my in-depth buyer’s guide that includes all of the top-selling systems.
Gdidea Vs Ring Floodlight Security Cam
The Ring camera and floodlight system is loaded with all the right features for the consumer in search of a light system that’s the total package. Not only does the system include an HD security camera, but it also comes with floodlights and motion sensors, so you will be instantly alerted when there is any activity in your yard.
The biggest drawback with this system is the fact that you have to pay a monthly subscription if you want to have total access to all of the camera features, such as the ability to download video footage or watch old footage.
Without the subscription, you’ll only be able to view the camera footage in real-time. Obviously, when compared to this system by Gdidea, the Ring offers a whole new level of protection.
However, if you already have an existing home security light system, then the Ring may be overkill. Additionally, the pricey subscription can make it a poor choice for the family on a budget.

GDIDEA Outdoor Floodlight Review: Conclusion And Rating
While this system isn’t equipped with as many bells and whistles as competing models, it does offer the type of solid performance you can count on. The Gdidea LED floodlights is a great choice if you’re looking for floodlights that remain on all throughout the night.
The lack of a motion detector makes these lights a no-go for many, since a motion sensor adds another level of security, alerting you to activity in your yard or on your property.
However, if you already have motion sensor lights, then these floodlights are a great addition to your setup. As far as their performance goes, the lights scored well for their anti-glare, energy-efficient design and the headlamp with its two hundred and seventy LED lights. We gave this system a rating of 4 out of 5, due to the lack of motion sensor.

I have looked and can’t find where these lights are made. Can you let me know where they are made.
China. Whenever something sells for a low price, you can safely assume it is made in China, or an even lower cost country.
